Celebrating Father's Day!

Dedicated to my father.

Thank you for the laughter,For the good times that we share,

Thanks for always listening,For trying to be fair.

Thank you for your comfort,When things are going bad,

Thank you for the shoulder, To cry on when I'm sad.

This poem is a reminder that All my life through,

I'll be thanking Heaven For a Special Dad like you.

The Case of the Bonsai Manager - Anecdote

"When institutions teach management techniques and concepts, they appeal to the analytical brain. When the student manager graduates from there, he feels that he knows a lot about management. Otherwise, why would he go there in the first place? However, management practice is much more than the acquisition of such knowledge or the MBA diploma.

As he manages in real life, the manager must analyse, but he must also synthesize, he must know about and be aware of the strengths of people around him, as he will always realise but rarely admit, he will never know enough, not at any time during his career. When the chips are down, he must lead with truthfullness and credibility, and when the going is good, he must alert his team to the impending challenges so that complacency is consciously avoided. He must be a master of psychology without possibly ever having studied the subject.

He must at all times be rational, but his rationality must have a core of emotion, which is the essense of all human motivation. As acknowledged by experienced managers, effectiveness comes through good judgement, which comes through experience, and experience comes through bad judgement."

"Experience is not what happens to a man, it is what a man does with what happens to him"
Aldous Huxley

Ratan Tata : Chairman , Tata Sons
"Gopal observes: Today's leadership skill set, has moved awayfrom the coldly analytical, aggresive and thrusting, towards the humane, inclusive and intuitive. Good leaders, overlay the known facts with their gut feel and instinct, which they consciously develop through their keen listening, reflection, contemplation and mentoring."

Erasing boundaries or widening them?

If you are looking to get an arranged marriage in today's day and age, then you might have to slog it out in the big bad world. Not only its a nightmare for finding a better partner but also getting help from your relatives and friends.

In today's world, with the advent of the internet and the print media slogging it out to get its share of space, it sure has become relatively easy to get access to information, communicate and express yourself. But what is missing is the authencity of information that is being provided in these platforms. You not only are dealing with a lot of fake profiles on the internet, be it on matrimonial websites and chat rooms but also changing a lot of cultural ethos specially in the traditional part of the world.

Gone are the days when it was customary to meet your relatives once a week or fortnight. The idea of socialising has taken a u turn, now the only way you communicate with your close relatives living in other part of delhi is through orkut.com/email/phone.

Sometimes you pause and think if technology is really a boon or a menace to keep us strangled in our own world.

Anyways, coming back to the original topic, it is essential for the people looking to seek an alliance to really take initiative and take part in this search for the better half.

We can't really blame our parents as it is a problem that has been created by technology and the ever changing modern technologically advanced environment that is bringing about a revolution by erasing the boundaries of distance and reach.

Is it really that or are we kicking our own a..? A thought to ponder!!
